Next Up

Saturday

Still pretty busy with work and apartment hunting... but I think I've found the perfect place! The only thing standing in my way is a little time and patience and I am declaring it now--
April 1st will be the day! Apartment A5... [That's how I knew it was meant to be.]
Eyes on the prize, baby...

Got a nail appointment today with my one & only bella nail tech from Astoria [on Steinway]. I have been going to her for about a little over a year and I refuse to let anyone else even paint my nails, let alone do work on them. She's know that I'll wait hours if necessary and I believe in the value of showing appreciation-- tipping is an art! That's the loyal lioness is me-- when I know where to go to get it good, you better believe I'm coming back. Strictly business or otherwise. [wink, wink] lol

I'm so excited about Stacey McKenzie bringing her Walk This Walk Workshop to New York City! I am beyond ecstatic. Totally have my marketing switch on full effect and strategizing on all of the new and innovative ways to develop this brand.

Monday is my big final presentation from my professional course and then Tuesday, I'll be attending this event from Full Circle NY. See me there!
Busy, busy worker bee.

**Currently on page 144 of Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man...
thoughts soon to come!

Also, for most of this week I will be detoxing, cleansing, jogging, all around getting serious!
For every day next week, I will be meeting with a personal trainer to step it up.
And reading more... join me, please?

March 24th

Tuesday Nite + Harlem = Awesome

that's all I'm gonna say. lol.

Forgivings.

I'm contemplating...
I have so much to say but I don't know if blogging it would be in my best interest. There are just some things that I must keep to myself... or at least between the pages of a much protected diary.

Soon to come! Promises!

Business as usual...
This afternoon I got a full-body deep tissue massage, a facial, pedicure, the works! Necessary much, ladies...
The body is your temple... the mind is your paradise.

Quick update...
Stacey McKenzie emailed me Sunday and we shall soon begin working... so excited! Let's go, Spring Fever!
Major presentation on Monday... going to be studying all through Monday.
Aaaaand I am apartment shopping all week to have [hopefully] made a decision by this weekend... where shall I reside-- Astoria, Harlem, or Brooklyn?

like Bugs used to say, stay tuned folks!

*Gosh I miss Looney Tunes. lol

Bliss.

I'm just gonna sum up this past weekend in one word... tumultuous.
lol

But have you noticed the title of this blog? [check now]

Yes... bliss-- this splendiforous emotion I am harboring at the moment that has me smiling ear to ear, carefree, and chipper...

And to the individual [directly] responsible, I've just got two words for ya...

Thank you.

Is it really Tuesday.

Gosh, it's 8:04 on a Tuesday and honest to goodness, I don't think I saw the light of day I've been working so intentively...face in book... pen in hand.

Today was all about research, research, research. The topic... me. And I'm not talking about the superficial, surface layer material--- I mean the inner core. The Philos!

And the powers of these innovative networking mediums...
I reunited with one of my favorite Philosophy professors' and I even engaged in brief dialogue with a few A-Listers today.

The value of the network, network, network. Connect and engage.
stay tuned.

Goodnight.

there's nothing quite like loyalty. i believe in unconditional love...

What's that right there?

Ok, so you might be wondering...
"What exactly are The Velveteen Principles?" Well, remember that children's story The Velveteen Rabbit?

What does it mean to be real?

For the velveteen rabbit, becoming real meant learning to be truly himself and not a version of something he thought he was supposed to be. Because it's based on our individuality, the concept of real is different for everyone, just as the purpose of life is varied in perspective. In a society consumed by Euro-centrism, assimilation, and an abundance of destructive social constructs, The Velveteen Principles begins with the argument that it is possible to be a true individual and a genuine entity in this illusionary world.

And if there's anything guaranteed in life it includes feelings of happiness and contentment, work that is engaging, relationships that feel satisfying, and enough love that we don't feel alone in the world. The Velveteen Principles can help you discover and develop your real self, live with empathy and establish satisfying relationships. The qualities that make us real help us to connect with others and live in a more deeply satisfying, engaging and appreciative wavelength. Once you truly tap into your geniune essence and you know that everything you say and do matters to others, you can also understand that we each leave an impact on the world that remains long after we're gone.

Hmph. Def food for thought.

It's the ides of March!

Spring fever.

Good Friday.

I don't believe in coincidences because everything happens for a reason.

Today I got The Secret in the mail from Netflix and as soon as I got the chance, I put that sucker on rotation. Of course, by now everyone is up on the inner workings of 'the secret' and how it functions. The whole "thought frequency" concept and the law of attraction are constantly reiterated throughout the documentary... and one of the examples they use is how you can suddenly have an encounter with an individual you were thinking about simply by focusing on that person. Not surprisingly, I have managed to attract quite a number of people into my life including people whom I have always wanted to meet based on their artistry. [Jennifer Hudson, Robin Thicke, Stacey McKenzie, Danica Lo, and many other inspiration muses.]

Ever gone through a particular circumstance where you just wish you had a chance to try again? Whether it be a conversation you wanted to attempt again or an entire day you wish you could just erase and start all over, I think we've all been there...
especially when it comes to dealing with someone who you secretly or not-so-secretly admire.

After a restless Friday afternoon, I suddenly caught the urge to go out and at the very last minute, I threw on my little black dress.
[a girl's best friend]
And in the course of the evening, I found myself saying, "I was just thinking about you."

Let's just say I had a good Friday.
a very good Friday. lol

Friday.The.Thirteenth

Last night, I had dinner with a friend...what I consider a real stunner/banger per bossiper standard and I had a blast... adore her company! Didn't Tyra do a show on girl crushes? lol
We chatted about all the typical lady banter...relationships, career, life, blackberry fumbles [arg!], love, granola, yoga and, *the lovely twenty-somethings...

*That moment in life where you've figured it all out, you know what you want, you're selfish, driven, independent, fearless, fucked-up financially, confused, upset, restless, creative, bored, elated aaaand excited all in the same breathe.
If you've ever held the title of "jack of all trades " or a "wearer of many hats," more than likely, you're in your lovely twenty-somethings stage. [insert sinister smile]

And as I look across this glorious city skyline on such a grand 28 degree day, I can't help but suppress the inner child screaming for strappy wedges, halter tops, and watermelon slices... mmm...hush now chil'!
Spring is steadily approaching and I've gotta get on my gym rat status.
A sleek physique in store!
